Roberto Baggio had high praise for Juventus starlet Kenan Yildiz and weighed in on the ‘completely different sport’ in modern Serie A.

The 18-year-old Yildiz fully broke into the Bianconeri first team this season and he quickly managed to impress, scoring three goals and showing a number of positives despite his limited chances on the pitch. He’s already made five caps for the Turkey national team, scoring once.

Some Juventus fans have suggested that Yildiz should take on an increasingly important role, especially considering the doubts surrounding Federico Chiesa, who has been linked with a possible exit in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Baggio on Yildiz, Juventus and Zirkzee

Speaking on page two of today’s Tuttosport, Baggio first praised Juventus talent Yildiz and commenting on the changing times in football.

“I like Yildiz a lot, he has incredible qualities. Having said that, I believe that football in Italy has always been and still is very difficult.

“Times have changed, what we see today is a completely different sport, there is much more study, more knowledge and more culture.

“Once upon a time we always and only played with the ball. It was the tool that we should never lose or abandon…”

He was asked about the difficulties encountered by the Bianconeri this season.

“I don’t know, not being inside the environment, it’s difficult for me to give any type of evaluation. What I would like to say is that Juventus, even if this year they’re no longer in the running for the Scudetto, remain a very difficult team to face.”

Baggio was confident that Juventus would secure Champions League qualification, despite their recent form.

“Absolutely yes. I think they have everything it takes to qualify.”

Finally, Baggio underlined how much he likes Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee.

“Very much, he’s had an exceptional season in Bologna. He has great qualities and ample room for improvement.”
