Roberto Baggio has paid tribute to Roma captain Francesco Totti for surpassing his tally of Serie A goals.

Totti climbed up to fifth in the all-time lists on Sunday when his brace allowed him to move up to 206 top-flight goals – one more than the legendary Baggio.

"I compliment Totti," Baggio said this afternoon. "To score 206 goals in Serie A is a great achievement.

"I don't care if he has overtaken me in the standings because he is a great player."

Baggio, who was at an event in Florence when questioned, was also asked for his opinion on Fiorentina boss Sinisa Mihajlovic.

"It wasn't easy to take over from Cesare Prandelli," continued the former Viola fantasista who left for bitter rivals Juventus in 1990.

"He's done a great job despite the many problems that he's had with injured players."

Prandelli left last summer to take charge of the Italian national side. Fiorentina are currently ninth in the standings.
