Milan Badelj could buy out own his Fiorentina contract, allowing him to leave the club before the expiry of his deal in 2018.

After months of talk from the player's agent regarding a strong desire to leave Florence, Calciomercato.it has revealed that Badelj is considering invoking article 17 to force a move away.

This FIFA ruling means that any player who signed a contract before the age of 28 can buy himself out three years after signing, therefore Badelj could leave in summer 2017, a full year before his current deal runs out.

The player's representative Dejan Joksimovic has publicly stated that Milan remains the 27-year-old's first choice but Roma, Chelsea, Borussia Monchengladbach and Schalke 04 have also all been linked with a move.

Fiorentina have so far refused to sell the Croatian, but relations are starting to become difficult after fans booed Badelj during the Viola's 1-1 draw with Sampdoria on Sunday evening.
