Carlos Bacca is “honoured by the comparisons to Pippo Inzaghi” and explained his risky Rabona against Palermo.
The Colombian netted twice in Milan’s 3-2 victory last night, but when the score was 1-1 he was clear on goal only to attempt a Rabona – crossing the legs and striking the ball with the back foot.
“I kicked it that way because I didn’t have confidence taking it with my left foot in that position, while I had more faith in the Rabona,” he told Milan Channel.
Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic was furious and later said it’s fortunate Bacca bagged a brace, otherwise he’d have been “pinned to the wall.”
The former Sevilla striker has now scored three goals in his last three Serie A games, earning comparisons with SuperPippo Inzaghi.
“I am truly honoured by the comparison to a great striker like Inzaghi. I thank the fans for their many messages of affection. I want to repay them with sacrifice and hard work on the field.
“A player must work for the team and not just for himself. I struggled a little in the derby, as the long journey for international duty weighed on me.
“I am very happy with the victory. A striker always wants to play for the biggest clubs and Milan are a big club. I will continue working to give my all to the team.”
