Azzurri undergo medicals

Cesare Prandelli's Italy squad are coming together tonight for medical and athletic tests ahead of the Euro 2012 qualifier.

The Azzurri do not play until Friday June 3 in their qualifier against Estonia, then a friendly with Giovanni Trapattoni's Republic of Ireland on Tuesday June 7.

All the players called by Coach Prandelli, except those involved in Sunday night's Inter-Palermo Coppa Italia Final, are gathering at the Coverciano training ground.

All the players called by Coach Prandelli, except those involved in Sunday night's Inter-Palermo Coppa Italia Final, are gathering at the Coverciano training ground.

Today and tomorrow there will be athletic and medical tests to help ascertain the conditions of each player.

“We decided to bring these tests forward so they won't impact too much on the training schedule that begins on Monday,” explained Professor Enrico Castellacci.

“This will all be very useful for completing our database. We hope it will then prove a good preparation tool for the European Championships.”

Italy currently lead Group C with 13 points from five games, followed by Slovenia and Serbia with eight points from six matches.
