Sardar Azmoun reveals Zenit rejected offers from Roma and Tottenham in the summer, so he could leave as a free agent in June.

The 26-year-old had been linked with a move to Italy or North London and he has confirmed that he received offers from both clubs during the summer transfer window.

“I have a contract with Zenit, even if I wanted the leave, there would be nothing I could do,” the 26-year-old said from the Iran training camp, as per Calciomercato.com.

“I received offers from Tottenham, Lyon, Leverkusen and Roma, but they [Zenit] rejected them. If I leave, I’ll do it at the end of my contract in the summer,” the striker added.

Azmoun has scored five goals in six appearances in Russia’s Premier Liga this season. His contract expires in June 2022 and it remains to be seen if Roma will still be interested in securing his services at the end of the campaign.

The Giallorossi sold Edin Dzeko to Inter but bought Tammy Abraham from Chelsea and Eldor Shomurodov from Genoa during the summer transfer window.

José Mourinho’s side have six points after the opening two Serie A games of the season, having collected back to back wins against Fiorentina and newly promoted side Salernitana.

After the international break, they return to action, hosting Sassuolo at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday, September 12.
