Ligue 1 outfit Auxerre have overtaken FC Lorient in the race for Inter owned goalkeeper Ionut Radu, reports detail.

The 25-year-old Romanian shot stopper was sent to Cremonese on loan in the summer and played every available minute of the first nine games before an elbow injury forced him to the sidelines.

Radu was the unfortunate protagonist for Inter in a key moment in last season’s title race with rivals Milan, making a disastrous mistake that cost his team a point in the 2-1 loss to Bologna.

As reported by TMW, FC Lorient had been leading the race to sign Radu on loan this month but have been overtaken by Auxerre, who are now only a step away from securing the Romanian goalkeeper.

The Inter owned shot stopper will leave for France this week to undergo his medicals and complete a six-month loan move to the club.

Radu is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2024 and they’ll be hoping he impresses enough to earn a permanent move in the summer.
