Inter director Piero Ausilio hinted he is tracking Bacary Sagna of Arsenal, but denies talks for Samuel Eto’o.

The technical director spoke to Sky Sport Italia ahead of tonight’s game with Roma.

“Sagna? Why must we always talk about the transfer market….” sighed Ausilio.

“We are tracking some players who can be functional to our requirements. It is a moment in which we must observe and plan, seeing who can be most useful.”

He was also asked about a reported meeting with Eto’o and his agent Claudio Vigorelli in London, fuelling rumours of the Chelsea striker’s return to the club where he won the Treble.

“It makes me smile, because Vigorelli has an office 100m away from the Inter HQ, so it would be rather silly to fly to London in order to meet him. As for Eto’o, I don’t think there is any possibility.

“Next season we must get back to being protagonists. We are trying to forge the structure of a squad that I think is already pretty strong. We’ve done that with Hernanes, Danilo D’Ambrosio and Ruben Botta in January.”

In November Roma beat Inter 3-0 at San Siro, so how have things changed going into tonight’s game?

“I remember that game well and honestly it wasn’t a bad performance from Inter. Roma made the most of certain rapid counter-attacks.”
