Emil Audero is ready to replace Yan Sommer in Inter’s goal against Lecce on Sunday as the Swiss international has a fever and didn’t train on Friday.
FCInter1908 reports that Sommer didn’t train with his teammates on Friday due to a fever. Therefore, he could rest against Lecce on Sunday and be replaced by the Nerazzurri’s second-choice keeper, Audero.
After the Lecce game, Inter will host Atalanta at San Siro in a rescheduled fixture from Week 21 and according to the report, Simone Inzaghi aims to recover Sommer for the match against La Dea.
Sommer, 35, joined Inter from Bayern Munich last summer and has had an impressive season at the Stadio Meazza, keeping 21 clean sheets in 32 matches and conceding just 14 goals across all competitions.
Audero also moved to the Stadio Meazza in the summer of 2023, completing a free transfer from Sampdoria.
The 27-year-old has made two appearances with the Nerazzurri this season, one in the Champions League and one in Coppa Italia, so he could make his Inter debut in Serie A this coming weekend.
