Atletico Madrid reportedly want to repeat the Champions League draw after Manchester United were mistakenly drawn against Villareal, while Liverpool were included in the pot of the Colchoneros’ opponents.

At the beginning of the ceremony, there was a moment of embarrassment when former Arsenal star Andrej Arshavin drew the Red Devils from the pot to face Villareal.

The trouble is, United and the Yellow Submarine had faced each other in the group, the same as Atalanta, meaning they could not meet in the Round of 16.

Arshavin then picked Manchester City from the same pot, followed by Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich.

According to Sky Sport Italia and Marca, the Colchoneros have lodged an appeal to UEFA to repeat the draw.

Marca reports that UEFA made another mistake, putting the Liverpool pot in the one of the possible opponents of Atletico Madrid. Another mistake as the Colchoneros and the Reds had played against each other in the group stage.

The La Liga giants have reportedly asked for an explanation from UEFA, but Europe’s governing body hasn’t yet replied to Atletico Madrid and it remains to be seen if the draw will be cancelled and repeated.

UPDATE: Atletico Madrid have confirmed talks with UEFA on social media.
