Roma outcast Gonzalo Villar is on the transfer market in January and Atletico Madrid are reportedly ready to renew their interest.
The midfielder 23-year-old was signed from Elche CF in January 2020 for €4m plus up to another €1m in bonuses.
He has made only four appearances this season in the European Conference League, while he is yet to step onto the pitch in Serie A.
Jose Mourinho has made it very clear that the former Valencia youth academy project is not part of his plans.
Villar was one of the players sent to the stands for Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Napoli, after failing to impress the coach in the 6-1 Europa League defeat to Bodo/Glimt.
Atletico Madrid had already been interested in Villar over the summer, and Calciomercato.com report that the Liga club are prepared to come back in with another proposal during the January transfer window.
He has 62 competitive appearances for Roma under his belt, with one assist.
