Atleti: ‘Nothing in Callejon rumours’

Atletico Madrid President Enrique Cerezo says there is ‘nothing’ in rumours they will sign Jose Callejon and Gonzalo Higuain.

The Napoli pair have been linked with the Spanish side, with Callejon even rumoured to have reached an agreement with the club.

“Nothing will be decided before the end of the season,” Cerezo insisted in an interview with Radio CRC.

“Our scouts have worked all year, and identified players who may be of interest to us, but we just want to finish the season well.

“Nothing will be decided before the end of the season,” Cerezo insisted in an interview with Radio CRC.

“Our scouts have worked all year, and identified players who may be of interest to us, but we just want to finish the season well.

“There’s nothing, nothing for Callejon, and also for Higuain. Of course, they’re two very good players and we like all the top players.

“But I’m being honest, there’s really no contact with Callejon and Higuain.

“We’re working, but there’s nothing concrete yet. I’d have confirmed it if there was something in it.”

Cerezo was also asked about rumours Atelti’s cross-town rivals Real Madrid would appoint Napoli Coach Rafa Benitez.

“I don’t know, it’s not my problem. It doesn’t interest me. He’s a great Coach, but it’s not Atletico’s concern.”
