Atlanta United are close to securing a deal for Atalanta forward Aleksey Miranchuk, but the Russian forward doesn’t want to leave Bergamo.

The 28-year-old has been with Gian Piero Gasperini’s side since September 2020, when he joined from Lokomotiv Moscow for around €14.5m. He shined during his first two years at the club but his form has begun to dip in recent seasons, spending the 2022-23 campaign on loan with Torino.

In recent weeks, a number of MLS clubs have grown seriously interested in making a move for Miranchuk this summer, including DC United and Atlanta United, with the latter progressing talks with Atalanta.

TMW details how Atlanta United are close to finalising a deal for Miranchuk after submitting an offer worth around €12m to Atalanta, who are happy to cash in on the 28-year-old, who is valued at around €4m on their balance sheets.

The Russian forward isn’t keen on the idea of leaving Bergamo, happy being a part of Gasperini’s squad, but there is still optimism that the deal can be completed in the coming days.
