Sky Sport Italia reports the Orobici have decided to block any moves to a top team in the Italian League, as Gomez seeks a new challenge after a falling out with coach Gian Piero Gasperini.
The Argentina international wants to continue to play in Europe, having helped La Dea finish among the top four in Italy the last two terms and back-to-back qualifications for the knockout stages in the Champions League.
A move abroad could therefore be the only option for Gomez, unless he accepts a move to an Italian team who aren’t fighting for a place in Europe.
