Atalanta win Kurtic auction

Atalanta bought Slovenia international Jasmin Kurtic from Sassuolo, while Roma lose Federico Barba, Gianluca Caprari and Adrian Stoian.

Today was the deadline for co-ownership deals – which are now barred – so clubs unable to reach an agreement went to a blind auction.

They each put a figure in a sealed envelope and the highest offer won the other 50 per cent of his contract.

Atalanta surprisingly beat Sassuolo in their blind auction for Kurtic and now own the Slovenian midfielder outright.

Atalanta surprisingly beat Sassuolo in their blind auction for Kurtic and now own the Slovenian midfielder outright.

The 26-year-old spent this season on loan at Fiorentina.

Roma were defeated in the auction by Empoli for Italy Under-21 international defender Barba.

The Giallorossi also lost Caprari to Pescara, but won the auction for Matteo Politano against the same club

Curiously, midfielder Stoian received a bid of €0 from both his parent clubs, Chievo and Roma.

In these situations, the side where he was currently playing gets the full contract, so Stoian remains at Chievo.
