Atalanta’s Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo has won the Most Valuable Field award for having the best pitch in the 2022-23 Serie A season.
The award was introduced last year by the Lega Serie A and the inaugural edition was won by the Dacia Arena in Udine.
After every Serie A match, there are votes from zero to three on the state of the playing surface, provided by the captain of the visiting team, the referee, the director of the television coverage and technicians.
They voted for the stadium used by Atalanta as the best pitch in the top flight this season.
The Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia, used by Sassuolo, came in second and third place went to the Stadio Giovanni Zini in Cremona.
That final arena won’t be in Serie A next season, as Cremonese were relegated after just one year, despite having a great playing surface to work with.
