Atalanta are still targeting a move for Celtic playmaker Matt O’Riley, and recent reports suggest that La Dea have been interested in adding him to their squad far before Teun Koopmeiners announced his intention to leave the club.

Where Atalanta stand with O’Riley and Koopmeiners

Atalanta reportedly offered Celtic a fee of around €17m earlier this month, which was promptly turned down by the Scottish giants. La Gazzetta dello Sport suggest that it will take an offer in excess of €25m to tempt Celtic into selling this transfer window.

Several Premier League sides also remain interested in the 23-year-old, including Brighton and Chelsea, while Juventus had also been mentioned in reports earlier this summer.

Even though Atalanta had been looking at O’Riley earlier in the window, the need for a new creative outlet has become considerably more pressing after Koopmeiners informed the club that he wishes to join Juventus.

Now that Koopmeiners is no longer part of Gian Piero Gasperini’s first team set-up in Bergamo, La Gazzetta dello Sport expect Atalanta to ramp up their offer to Celtic for O’Riley.

Elsewhere, La Dea remain on the look-out for a new wing-back after a deal for Almeira’s Marc Puibill collapsed when he failed his medical in Italy over the weekend.
