Fans could be in for a closely fought battle in Sunday’s Serie A Atalanta vs. Bologna predictions. The two sides are in similar form ahead of kick-off and just eight points separate them in the league table.

Atalanta vs. Bologna odds

1 – A draw at full-time – 3/1

2 – Both teams to score– 1/1

3 – Over 2.5 goals scored– 19/20

4 – Ademola Lookman to score first – 11/2

5 – Mussa Barrow to score anytime – 6/1

Atalanta look for a third consecutive Serie A win on Sunday afternoon but come up against an impressive Bologna side at the Gewiss Stadium. The visitors have lost just one of their last six games and evidences their attacking potency in a 3-0 win against Udinese last week.

Thiago Motta’s side have struggled with injuries this season and have been without their top scorer Marko Arnautovic for the past four months. Even so, with a well-balanced squad, the Rossblu have kept in touching distance with the Serie A top six.

Ahead of the weekend match the hosts occupy the sixth place in the league table and will be keep to prevent the likes of Juventus and Bologna themselves from making any ground by winning on Sunday. La Dea have struggled with consistency throughout the season but are on the verge of securing their joint longest winning streak should they pick up three points this weekend.

Unfortunately for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side, with the teams looking so well-matched, the odds may be pointing towards a draw at the Gewiss Stadium. Atalanta have only failed to beat their weekend opponents once in the last six encounters, but Bologna are undoubtedly in their best form of the last few years.

Matchday 28 was an outlier for the two teams who, having struggled in front of goal for much of the season, both scored three goals. Fans will be hoping that their respective front lines have finally clicked and a wager on both teams to score or on over 2.5 goals scored could pay out.

One particular reason for hope for Atalanta fans is the return to goalscoring form for Ademola Lookman. The current top scorer finally ended an eight-match dry spell against Cremonese and is our tip to score first at the weekend.

Similarly, Bologna’s Mussa Barrow exploded into life last weekend, scoring one goal and setting two up, justifying Thiago Motta’s decision to move him from centre forward to left wing. Should Sunday’s game end in the goal-fest we predict, Barrow could well get on the goal-sheet for his side.

Atalanta team news

Both Jeremie Boga and Ademola Lookman will be hoping to start on Sunday having scored off the bench last weekend. Rasmus Hojland may also be feeling hard done by having lost his place to Duvan Zapata against Cremonese despite the Colombian’s poor form. Hans Haterboer and Derat Djimsiti are both sidelined but Teun Koopmeiners should return.

Bologna team news

Riccardo Orsolini had to make do with a position on the bench in Bologna’s comprehensive win over Udinese last week and as a result may not start once again this Sunday. Nicola Sansone featured as a false 9 in the absence of Marko Arnautovic and will likely retain the position this weekend.
