Atalanta have agreed a €17m deal with Sturm Graz for 19-year-old Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund and he could have his medical this weekend.

According to Sportitalia and Sky Sport Italia, the transfer is imminent, beating Club Brugge to his signature, with plans to fly him in on Friday and have the tests on Saturday.

This will represent a huge expense for a teenager with very little experience, but a great deal of potential.

Coach Gian Piero Gasperini has been urging Atalanta to sign reinforcements in attack for some time, as Duvan Zapata and Luis Muriel are both the wrong side of 30.

Hojlund moved from FC Copenhagen to Sturm Graz in January 2022 for just €1.8m.

He has already contributed six goals and three assists in eight competitive games for Sturm Graz this season.

The €17m fee, if confirmed, would be almost a club record for Atalanta.

In their entire history, they only purchased five players for more than this figure, Merih Demiral for €20m, Juan Musso at €20.5m, Ederson €21m, Luis Muriel for €21.2m and Jeremie Boga for €22m.

  1. Yo that`s a lot of money for a 19 year old striker currently evaluated at 4.5M, but at least they give something to Gasperini who has been very vocal about the need for another forward.

I trust Atalanta`s scouting system, but I find the price a bit expensive. Boutique last minute shopping it is.

Atalanta are currently -50M in the red as overall balance this mercato. Are they selling Malinovskyi after all?
