Marco Carnesecchi will return to Atalanta’s starting XI against Hellas Verona, but Teun Koopmeiners and Gianluca Scamacca could rest ahead of Thursday’s Europa League quarter-final decider against Liverpool.

It kicks off at 19:45 UK time (GMT+1) at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo.

La Dea are still in the race for a Champions League placement in Serie A, but Gian Piero Gasperini may rotate ahead of Thursday’s Europa League second leg against Liverpool.

Marten de Roon and Davide Zappacosta are suspended, and Giorgio Scalvini is injured, but Sead Kolasinac is available after missing Thursday’s game at Anfield with a slight injury.

Carnesecchi will return in goal, joining defenders Rafael Toloi, Isak Hien, and Berat Djimsiti. There seem to be no doubts in midfield, as Mario Pasalic and Ederson are set to start. Emil Holm is likely to get a starting spot as a right midfielder, while Matteo Ruggeri and Hans Hateboer are fighting for a starting spot on the left.

There are more doubts in attack. Ademola Lookman is expected to feature in the Atalanta line-up after starting on the bench at Anfield. Aleksei Miranchuk could replace Koopmeiners and one between Scamacca and Charles De Ketelaere will initially go on the bench.

Liverpool suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Crystal Place on Sunday and it was the first time the Reds lost back-to-back competitive fixtures at Anfield since 2012.

Atalanta-Verona: probable line-ups

Atalanta (3-4-1-2): Carnesecchi; Toloi, Djimsiti, Hien; Holm, Ederson, Pasalic, Hateboer (Ruggeri); Miranchuk (Koopmeiners); Lookman, De Ketelaere (Scamacca).

Verona (4-2-3-1): Montipò; Centonze, Magnani, Dawidowicz, Cabal; Folorunsho, Dani Silva; Suslov; Bonazzoli, Lazovic; Noslin.
