Atalanta striker Gianluca Scamacca is expected to remain out of action for a month, having suffered a first-degree muscle injury in his left thigh.
Scamacca suffered a muscle problem during Atalanta’s 3-2 loss against Fiorentina on Sunday and medical examinations undergone earlier this week highlighted a first-degree injury in his left thigh, reports Sky Sport Italia.
This means Scamacca will remain out of action for a month, missing four games in Serie A and two in Europa League.
It remains to be seen if Scamacca’s injury will prevent him from getting an Italy call-up for the international break in October.
Gian Piero Gasperini will probably say more about Scamacca’s injury during a press conference today.
Atalanta will meet Raków Częstochowa in their Europa League opener on Thursday.
Scamacca, 24, joined Atalanta on a permanent €25m transfer from West Ham last summer and has scored two goals in four appearances with La Dea so far this season.
