Atalanta finally seem ready to secure Teun Koopmeiners from AZ Alkmaar in a deal reported to be worth circa €14m.

According to Sky Sport Italia and Tuttomercatoweb, the two clubs have at last reached a basic agreement on the transfer fee.

The situation has been dragging on all summer, with Koopmeiners venting his frustration to the media a few weeks ago, admitting he thought it would’ve been a simpler operation than this.

The 23-year-old midfielder is a product of the AZ Alkmaar youth academy and was promoted to the senior squad in 2017.

His younger brother Peer also plays for the club and Teun Koopmeiners has one senior cap for the Netherlands.

He is due to receive a four-year contract, with option for a fifth, worth €1.5m per season.

Atalanta are in action this evening in Serie A against Bologna, having won the opener 2-1 with Torino.

La Dea had been seeking a more defensive midfielder to complete their squad, eyeing the likes of Sampdoria’s Morten Thorsby amongst others.
