According to Sportitalia, Atalanta have told Manchester United, Real Madrid and any other interested parties they must pay at least €60m to sign Giorgio Scalvini.

The central defender has long been linked with the likes of Juventus, Inter and Milan, but it was always known his rapid improvement would make the price-tag perhaps beyond their means.

A January exit remains extremely unlikely, but Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà maintains that Atalanta would be prepared to listen for an extremely high offer.

The cost of the operation would be an absolute minimum of €60m to sell Scalvini, a product of the prolific Atalanta youth academy.

He only turned 20 last month and his contract with the Bergamo club runs all the way to June 2028.

Manchester United already know all too well that Atalanta directors drive a hard bargain, as they held out until the asking price was met last summer for Rasmus Hojlund, eventually selling for €74m plus a further €9.6m in add-ons.
