Atalanta sending Miranchuk to Torino

Atalanta midfielder Aleksei Miranchuk is reportedly on the verge of a January transfer to Torino after complaining at a lack of playing time.

The 26-year-old made the transfer from Lokomotiv Moscow in September 2020 for €14.5m, but has so far failed to make much of an impact.

He made only eight competitive appearances this season between Serie A and the Champions League for a total 215 minutes of football.

On international duty, coach of Russia Valerij Karpin confirmed Miranchuk is “not completely satisfied with the Atalanta experience, as he would like to play more.”

According to Calcionews24.com, his destination will be Torino, as the clubs are in advanced negotiations for a transfer in January.

It would be a loan with obligation to buy after 18 months, activated when he makes a certain number of appearances in the Granata jersey.

Toro coach Ivan Juric has asked for reinforcements in January and shares a sensibility with Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini.

Juric was Gasperini’s player at Genoa, then assistant manager before breaking out on his own.
