Miranchuk

Atalanta midfielder Aleksei Miranchuk is reportedly on the verge of a January transfer to Torino after complaining at a lack of playing time.

The 26-year-old made the transfer from Lokomotiv Moscow in September 2020 for €14.5m, but has so far failed to make much of an impact.

He made only eight competitive appearances this season between Serie A and the Champions League for a total 215 minutes of football.

On international duty, coach of Russia Valerij Karpin confirmed Miranchuk is “not completely satisfied with the Atalanta experience, as he would like to play more.”

According to Calcionews24.com, his destination will be Torino, as the clubs are in advanced negotiations for a transfer in January.

It would be a loan with obligation to buy after 18 months, activated when he makes a certain number of appearances in the Granata jersey.

Toro coach Ivan Juric has asked for reinforcements in January and shares a sensibility with Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini.

Juric was Gasperini’s player at Genoa, then assistant manager before breaking out on his own.

  1. That may be a good move for all concerned? I think he’s a talented player + that he’d definitely come in useful for Atalanta in the 2nd half of the season. But if he want’s a better shot at more regular playing time then a move to Turin could benefit him + it’d be a bit of a coup for Torino too. Look how Simeone has thrived in a different set-up + surrounding. The talent is there, sometimes they just need more regular playing time to establish themselves!
