With Cristian Romero on his way to Tottenham, Atalanta are ready to bring Juventus defender Merih Demiral to the Gewiss Stadium.

According to multiple reports in Italy, La Dea is close to reaching an agreement with Juventus over the signing of the Turkish defender who is expected to move to Bergamo on loan with an option to buy.

Goal.com’s Romeo Agresti and Sky Sport Italia confirm the two clubs have almost closed the deal, so Demiral will replace Romero, who is on his way to Tottenham.

Football Italia understands Juventus and Atalanta still need to agree whether Demiral loan will last one or two seasons, while La Dea should have an option to make the player’s move permanent for €28m.

Demiral had also been linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund, but the Bundesliga side never made a formal bid to sign the Turkey international.

The 23-year-old swapped Sassuolo with Juventus in an €18m move in 2019. He has 32 appearances with the Bianconeri.
