Atalanta rejected late Napoli raise for Koopmeiners

Napoli reportedly submitted a last-minute raise for Teun Koopmeiners following their rejected €45m offer but Atalanta also turned this down.

The Partenopei worked hard to find reinforcements for Rudi Garcia’s midfield this summer and initially set their sights on the talented Gabri Veiga, who shined with Celta Vigo last season.

Napoli invested time and effort into talks with Celta for Veiga and seemed to be just a step away from completing the deal before Al-Ahli swooped in to whisk away the 21-year-old Spaniard.

The Partenopei then turned their attention back to Koopmeiners and submitted an official €45m offer to Atalanta, which the player’s agent Bart Baving confirmed had been rejected.

As reported by TMW, in the final days of the summer transfer window Napoli submitted one final offer for Koopmeiners, willing to pay Atalanta a flat €47m fee for the midfielder.

This still failed to convince the Bergamo side, who made it clear that they wouldn’t be selling the 25-year-old this summer.
