In positive news for Atalanta, striker Gianluca Scamacca is recovering well from his recent injury and a return to competitive action could be just around the corner according to recent reports.

The former Sassuolo and West Ham forward had suffered a lesion to a tendon in his left thigh at the beginning of December, and it was originally expected that he would not be able to return until the beginning of 2024.

The initial diagnosis suggested that Scamacca would be sidelined for a period of at least three to four weeks.

However, according to information from TMW, Scamacca has since been able to return to the training pitch and was also able to participate in small parts of Thursday’s session with the rest of the first team group.

His situation will continue to be monitored in the coming days, although it remains to be seen whether he will be deemed fit enough for a place in the squad for the Serie A fixture against Bologna on Saturday afternoon.
