Atalanta have reportedly decided to permanently sign Merih Demiral from Juventus, amid interest from Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid.

The 24-year-old Turkish defender has continued to grow following his arrival in Bergamo last summer and he’s finally found some consistency playing under Gian Piero Gasperini. Looking ahead to the future, the club want to make his stay permanent as they believe he’s the right fit for the system.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Atalanta are prepared to pay €25m to sign Demiral permanently from Juventus and they could decide to immediately sell him on to the interested Real Madrid.

Los Blancos are could make an offer of around €50m for the Turkish centre back, although it’s likely that Gasperini would prefer to keep the player instead, especially after losing Cristian Romero to Tottenham.

Atalanta are looking to confirm their position amongst the best teams in Italy and part of that is signing well-established and experienced players, as well as developing young talents.
