Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners has left international duty with the Netherlands after he was diagnosed with concussion.

The player clashed heads with Karol Linetty during the Nations League match against Poland last night just seconds into the encounter.

He was stretchered off when visibly dazed and taken to hospital for tests, which showed he had sustained a concussion.

Koopmeiners has been released from the squad ahead of the final Nations League group match against Belgium, to be played on Sunday.

The 24-year-old has been in stunning form for Serie A leaders Atalanta so far this season, contributing four goals and an assist in just seven games.

He is not the only player who has pulled out of the Dutch team, as they also lost Memphis Depay and Frenkie de Jong to thigh injuries.
