Roma could find their new centre-forward within Serie A, because Luis Muriel has reportedly been offered to them by Atalanta after securing Gianluca Scamacca.

It would be a twist considering Scamacca had been in talks with the Giallorossi for weeks, but without finding an agreement with West Ham United over the fee.

Inter too were very close before Atalanta dived in with a proposal worth €25m plus another €5m in performance-related bonuses.

With the Italian’s arrival and that of club record signing El Bilal Toure, La Dea are free to sell veterans Muriel and Duvan Zapata.

According to Sportitalia and Calciomercato.com, Atalanta approached Roma to ask if they would be interested in signing 32-year-old Muriel, who is down to the final year of his contract in Bergamo.

His salary is worth €1.8m per season and the transfer could be done at a low cost.

It would be an additional striker for Jose Mourinho, so not ruling out the investment in Santos centre-forward Marcos Leonardo for €18m including add-ons.
