Atalanta continue to push Celtic for midfielder Matt O’Riley, with a new offer worth €25m plus €2m in add-ons, as they cannot sell Teun Koopmeiners to Juventus without him.

Coach Gian Piero Gasperini and the Bergamo directors have set their sights firmly on the Denmark international as the ideal replacement for Koopmeiners.

They have already seen three proposals turned down by Celtic and hope the fourth will be the charm, reported to be worth €25m plus another €2m in bonuses.

It is getting closer to the asking price, which is €27m plus €2m in add-ons, though the interest from other clubs including Brighton and Hove Albion might allow the Scottish side to hold out.

O’Riley necessary to release Koopmeiners

Koopmeiners is missing tonight’s UEFA Super Cup clash against Real Madrid so that he can push through the move to Juventus, but Atalanta warned he will not be sold until there is a replacement in their grasp.

The Bianconeri are expected to pay at least €55m for the Dutch midfielder.
