Reports on Wednesday afternoon suggest that Ademola Lookman could be in line to return to the Atalanta squad for Friday’s exciting Serie A clash away to Inter, but Gian Piero Gasperini may have to do without summer recruit Nicolo Zaniolo.

One in, one out for Atalanta

According to updates from TMW, Lookman has returned to training after a brief transfer saga involving Paris Saint-Germain.

The Nigeria international had been tipped with a move to Paris earlier in August, which led to his temporary removal from the first-team group, much like what happened with Teun Koopmeiners.

The PSG links have since cooled off, and Lookman is now most likely to stay on with La Dea for the 2024-25 season. He is back in first-team training and could be involved with the matchday squad against Inter on Friday.

Zaniolo, however, has picked up a muscular strain in his left adductor, which makes him a doubt ahead of the trip to San Siro.

The former Roma attacker, who has been given Atalanta’s no.10 shirt, made his competitive debut for La Dea off the bench in their 2-1 loss to Torino over the weekend.
