The centre-back was stretchered off during the 2-0 victory over Bologna at the weekend, soon after diagnosed with the ACL tear.

A statement from the club today confirmed that Kolasinac had surgery to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

It was performed at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome by Professor Mariani and he will now begin rehabilitation treatment.

The season is over for the Bosnia and Herzegovina international, as this type of injury generally requires five to six months on the sidelines.

It is the third different ACL tear suffered by Atalanta players this season, after Gianluca Scamacca and Giorgio Scalvini.

Kolasinac joined Atalanta in the summer of 2023 and was instrumental in the side that won the Europa League.

His contract runs to June 2026, but the club has an option to extend for one more year.
