“Allegri really likes Cristante, as he really launched his career at Milan. We’ll see how it pans out,” replied Percassi.

Atalanta have been at the centre of numerous transfer gossip, including Liverpool interest in Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez.

“We have not received offers from Liverpool for Gomez, even if we know that our players who impress in Bergamo tend to attract attention from the bigger clubs.

“We must not lose our identity and showed already we’ve been able to maintain that even after important sales. After all, there are clubs with the kind of revenue we simply cannot compete with.

“We have an excellent rapport with Juventus and also worked with them when planning our stadium project.”

Leonardo Spinazzola was the cause of a row between the two clubs last summer, as Atalanta refused to interrupt the two-year loan deal early.

“When he arrived, he was a player owned by Juve, but when he returns to Turin it’ll be as a player who belongs at Juve. Mattia Caldara is also extraordinary and will be the future of the Nazionale.”
