Samp were yesterday reported to be on the verge of signing Verissimo [pictured, left] for €5m including bonuses.

However, Santos President Jose Carlos Peres has since told Globo Esporte that there is ‘no chance’ of the Blucerchiati signing the Brazilian.

That is because he is holding out for €10m and they still ‘owe €1.25m’ from Kaique Rocha’s transfer last summer.

Instead, Peres claims there have been ‘enquiries from several clubs in Europe’, namely Atalanta, Inter and Chelsea.

Santos were already encountering financial difficulties but now absolutely have to sell after those problems were aggravated by the coronavirus pandemic.
