Atalanta released a statement distancing themselves from an “obviously fake” picture showing an offensive statement against Napoli.
The two teams meet this evening at the Stadio Azzurri d’Italia in Bergamo at 19.30 GMT.
There is a great deal of tension surrounding the fixture, as Napoli are prepared to walk off the field if there are chants of ‘territorial discrimination’ – insults against those from the south of Italy.

This type of insult is viewed in the same way as racism in Italy and the referee does have the power to halt play.
With this in mind, Atalanta felt the need to release their own official statement on the “obviously fake and photoshopped” images doing the rounds on social media.
They depicted the gates of the Stadio Azzurri d’Italia with a pile of garbage in front of it and the banner: ‘To make you feel at home.’
“Atalanta distance ourselves from this and any other behaviour that does not stand with the principles of fair play.”
