Despite their hunger, Atalanta failed to find three points in an edgy clash with the newly promoted Cremonese this afternoon.

La Dea came into this match weekend top of the Serie A table, keen to maintain their momentum after an explosive start to the season, but things did not go to plan at the Gewiss Stadium today. Neither side could find a breakthrough in the first half, but an electric second half saw sparks fly.

Teun Koopmeiners seemingly put the home side ahead after 63 minutes with an improbable free-kick, but after a quick VAR check it was ruled out due to a handball by Caleb Okoli. La Dea continued pushing and 11 minutes later they finally found their opener thanks to Merih Demiral, whose header guided Koopmeiners’ free kick into the back of the net.

Things were looking good for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side, but only a few minutes later Juan Musso failed to safely parry away a Santiago Ascacibar shot, allowing Emanuele Valeri to swoop in to poke home the equaliser.

Atalanta tried their best to take the advantage once again in front of their home fans, but their efforts were in vain as Cremonese held strong to secure their hard-fought point.
