Atalanta’s match against Lazio tonight will not be postponed following fears that the Bergamo side were dealing with an outbreak of COVID.

The Nerazzurri did not leave for the Italian capital yesterday, as initially planned, after tests showed that seven of their players have tested positive for COVID. A new round of tests were taken, and the results of those came back this morning.

As seen on Atalanta’s Twitter, the team have now departed Bergamo for Rome, ready to face Lazio tonight. No new positive cases were found, and the new COVID rules from the FIGC state that nine players need to be positive for a match to be postponed, meaning that the game will go ahead as planned.

The positive players are currently unknown, but rumours suggest that they are Ruslan Malinovskyi, Hans Hateboer, Marten de Roon, Mario Pasalic, Luis Muriel, Teun Koopmeiners, and a Primavera player.

For high risk contacts, according to the new regulations, at least one negative antigen test must be carried out at least four hours before the match, but this is not the case for Atalanta today. This is because the players who left for Rome are not considered high risk and so a negative test carried out within the last 24 hours is sufficient.
