There are reports Atalanta could use the funds from the sale of Cristian Romero to Tottenham to sign Sampdoria starlet Mikkel Damsgaard.

Tottenham are in talks to sign the Argentinean defender but must meet Atalanta’s €60m asking price to secure the player’s services.

Spurs have already secured the services of Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini and Romero could become the second Atalanta player to move to North London this summer.

However, Tottenham have not met La Dea’s asking price as Spurs latest offer is reported to be in the region of €40m plus add-ons.

According to La Repubblica newspaper, the Nerazzurri are already thinking about using the defender’s sale to strengthen their team.

While they are believed to have prepared a four-man shortlist to replace the defender, Atalanta could also use the funds to strengthen the team in different areas of the pitch.

AZ’s Teun Koopmeiners is not Atalanta’s only midfield target as Mikkel Damsgaard is also reported to be on Atalanta’s sights.

Sampdoria set a €40m asking price for the Denmark starlet who was scouted by both Tottenham and Barcelona during the Euros.

According to La Repubblica (via Calciomercato.it), Atalanta could include Sam Lammers in a player-plus-cash swap deal to secure the services of the highly-rated 21-year-old who has also been linked with Milan and Juventus.
