Atalanta have vowed to “fight the stupidity of a few” after condemning the racism that led their 2-2 draw with Fiorentina to be suspended.

Atalanta came back from behind to draw 2-2 with Fiorentina yesterday, but the match was marred by Dalbert being targeted by racial abuse.

Referee Daniele Orsato consequently took the decision to halt the game for three minutes.

“With reference to the suspension during the match between Atalanta and Fiorentina, the club dissociates itself from any form of discrimination that may have occurred,” read an official statement.

“Atalanta, with the help of their fans, are and always will be the spokesperson of values of solidarity and equality.

“The stupidity of a few must be fought together and we believe it has neither colour nor a shirt. It must be isolated.”
