There is bad news for Atalanta and Italy, because striker Gianluca Scamacca has been ruled out until 2024 with a serious injury.

The centre-forward was just starting to find his feet in Bergamo after the €25m plus bonuses transfer from West Ham United over the summer.

According to Sky Sport Italia, test results were worse than expected and he has been diagnosed with a lesion to the tendon of the adductor in his left thigh.

He is expected to be out of action for at least three to four weeks.

Scamacca has scored six goals in 14 appearances for Atalanta this season between Serie A and the Europa League.

He also got his first senior goal for Italy in the trip to England.

It is a further blow considering La Dea are already without El Bilal Toure, who suffered a serious tendon tear in training back in August and has not yet made his debut for the club.

Charles De Ketelaere, on loan from Milan, is also struggling with a strain of the obliques.
