Atalanta and Fiorentina go directly through to the Round of 16 in the Europa League and Conference League respectively, so won’t know their next opponents until February 23.

Of the seven Italian teams participating in the three UEFA tournaments, only Atalanta and Fiorentina were able to win their groups.

This allows them to avoid the knockout play-offs in February and go straight through to the Round of 16 in March.

It means they must wait for another round to be played in February before the draw for the last 16 on February 23.

Atalanta are joined there in the Europa League by Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton and Hove Albion, Bayer Leverkusen, Liverpool, Rangers, Slavia Prague, Villarreal and West Ham United.

In the Conference League, Fiorentina are through to the Round of 16 with Aston Villa, Club Brugge, Fenerbahce, LOSC Lille, Maccabi Tel Aviv, PAOK and Viktoria Plzen.

The Conference League also has a play-off round between the runners-up and those teams who finished third in their Europa League groups.
