That proved to be correct, with an accompanying statement making very clear this was a joint decision and not due to any fitness issues.
“The coach, in agreement with the club, has decided not to call the player Alejandro Papu Gomez due to a technical choice.”
Ilicic returns after he missed the Juventus match with a throat infection, but Mattia Caldara, Mario Pasalic, Cristiano Piccinini and Matteo Ruggeri are still injured.
