Atalanta have reportedly struck a deal with Flamengo to buy Wesley for €16m plus another €4m in add-ons and a percentage of the sell-on fee.

The right-back turns 21 next month and is a product of the Brazilian club’s youth academy.

According to rumours in Brazil and Italy, including Sportitalia, a deal has now been struck to send him to Bergamo.

The cost of the operation will be €16m payable in three instalments, plus another €4m in add-ons and a 10 per cent cut of the sell-on fee if it goes beyond €45m.

The first instalment worth €6m can be paid within five days of signing the contract, another €4m by October 2024 and the final €6m by August 2026.

The performance-related bonuses are also fairly easy to achieve, specifically €1m at his 20th appearance, €1m for Europa League qualification and another €1m for reaching the round of 16.

Wesley is not going to fly out until next weekend, because as part of the deal Flamengo have been allowed to keep him for their next two games against Botafogo and Bolivar.
