Davide Astori is expected next week to make clear to Cagliari his intentions, amid continued interest from Lazio.

The Aquile are reported as having stolen a march on the likes of Milan, Roma and Inter to try and sign the Italy-capped centre-back this summer.

However, where it is assumed that they have reached an agreement in principle over personal terms with the 27-year-old, negotiations with Cagliari are reportedly at a stalemate.

With the player entering the final year of his contract, it is believed that the capital club have set out for a maximum spend of €6m, just as new Isolani owner Tommaso Giulini has asked for no less than €8m for his sale.

The Corriere dello Sport believe that the situation could be unlocked by the middle of next week, with Astori’s expected return from vacation on the Tuesday.

Then, it is expected that the player will make clear to Cagliari his intention to either renew his contract with them, or to leave the club, whereby he will ask to be transferred.
