Robin Olsen has done enough to impress at Aston Villa following his loan move in January and they’re in talks to sign him on a permanent deal.

The 32-year-old Swedish shot stopper failed to make a good impression in the Italian capital following his arrival at Roma in 2018 and he started the season on loan in the Championship with Sheffield United, making 11 appearances before switching to Steven Gerard’s Aston Villa.

As reported by Football Insider, Aston Villa have been happy with Olsen following his move, despite the fact that he’s not made an appearance yet, and so they’ve started talks to secure his services for good.

Gerard wants Olsen to play second fiddle to number one Emiliano Martinez, who is a proven and consistent shot stopper.

The Swedish goalkeeper’s buy option is set at €3.5m, making a deal very accessible and giving Roma a little extra cash to play with in the summer transfer market.
