Kristjan Asllani is ‘ready’ to replace Marcelo Brozovic against Roma and insists the Nerazzurri only think about the Giallorossi, not Barcelona.

Simone Inzaghi’s men must react after suffering a 3-1 loss against Udinese in the last game before the break two weeks ago.

Their midfield star Brozovic suffered a muscle injury with Croatia and is expected to remain out of action for up to a month. Asllani was signed in the summer from Empoli to become a backup for the Croatia midfielder.

The Nerazzurri had struggled to replace ‘Epic Brozo’ in 2021-22 and didn’t win any of the three Serie A games played without the 29-year-old last term.

“I am always at the coach’s disposal, including Saturday,” Asllani told Tuttosport.

“It’s a pity for Marcelo, a crucial player for us, but I am ready if my turn arrives. I’ll try to give my best.

“We’ll face Roma, a strong team,” the ex-Empoli midfielder continued. “We must play to win. We work hard ever,y day and I am sure results will arrive.”

The Nerazzurri have a crucial week ahead as they’ll host Barcelona in the Champions League at the Stadio Meazza on Tuesday, three days after their home game against José Mourinho’s side in Serie A.

“We’ll focus on Barcelona at the right time, now we must think about Roma, we are only thinking about Saturday’s game with the Giallorossi,” Asllani concluded.

The 20-year-old joined the Nerazzurri on loan with an obligation to buy in the summer for €10m plus €2m add-ons.
