Asensio to Milan: the figures of the possible deal

Milan have opened preliminary talks with Real Madrid for Marco Asensio and Italian and Spanish media reveal how much the Spaniard would cost the Rossoneri.

Asensio sees his contract expire in June 2023 and pretty much every Italian outlet confirms talks between his entourage and the Rossoneri. Asensio’s agents confirmed the interest of Milan and Arsenal this week.

According to Calciomercato.com, Sportmediaset and AS.com, Milan can afford his current €5m-a-year salary thanks to the ‘Growth decree’ that would allow the Diavoli to save 50% on the player’s gross wages.

However, Tuttosport claims that the player will be looking for more money, perhaps in the region of €7m per season and it remains to be seen if the Rossoneri would afford as much. Talks between the two parties are ongoing and Paolo Maldini can rely on his excellent rapport with Real Madrid directors.

According to the report, the Merengues value Asensio at €25-30m, but the Rossoneri are negotiating a lower fee given that the player’s contract runs out in the summer of 2023. Sportmediaset claims that Madrid have offered Asensio a new contract, but the player won’t make a decision regarding his future before the end of the campaign.
