As Onana struggles with Man Utd, Sommer shines for Inter

Inter sold star goalkeeper Andre Onana to Manchester United for over €50m and spent just over 10% of that on his replacement Yann Sommer, a switch that’s worked perfectly for the Nerazzurri.

The Cameroonian shot stopper impressed during his single season in the Lombardy capital, earning the high-profile move to the Red Devils, but things have not started simply for the 27-year-old.

Onana has not managed to replicate his form for Manchester United this season, making a fateful error in the club’s 4-3 Champions League loss to Bayern Munich. He’s looked equally shaky in the Premier League, generating some concern amongst supporters.

As highlighted by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter have gained from the switch from Onana to Sommer, with the Swiss veteran immediately impressing following his €6m move from Bayern.

The 34-year-old has kept three clean sheets in his first five games for the Nerazzurri, conceding just two goals in that time. He played a crucial role in ensuring that Simone Inzaghi’s side secured a point in their Champions League clash with Real Sociedad, making two vital saves.
